College Writing

Welcome to your class webpage!  Laughing
On this page you will find daily information about what went on in class, and if you were absent you can copy down any new assignments and due dates.

This course will focus largely on writing skills, but will also incorporate effective reading strategies. Students will work on integrating the writing process into every piece of writing they create. Students will be exposed to nine different types of writing: Narration, Description, Exemplification, Process, Cause and Effect, Comparison and Contrast, Definition, and Argumentation.

In each unit, the student will learn the components and structure of the type of writing, read examples of the type of writing, create their own piece of the type of writing (using the writing process, of course...), and participate in daily class activities and assignments tailored to deepen their understanding.

Throughout the year, students will also be expected to perform timed writing exercises, as preparation for college and real-world jobs.
